Netera Pratt-Gutierrez

Board member

Netera Pratt- Gutierrez is an accomplished educator and librarian with a diverse academic background and a deep commitment to fostering inclusivity in education. Netera also serves on the leadership team of The Kent Educators of Color Network. With an Associate’s degree in Theater Arts, a Bachelor’s in Philosophy, and a Master’s in Education, Netera brings a unique perspective to her work with students. In 2022, she expanded her expertise by earning a certificate in Children’s Rights in Theory and Practice from Harvard X, further reinforcing her dedication to advocating for children’s educational and social needs. Having lived in California, Texas, and now residing in Federal Way, Washington, Netera has worked with students from a wide range of cultural backgrounds, making her an adaptable and empathetic educator.


As an Elementary School librarian, Netera is passionate about creating an environment where every student feels seen, heard, and valued. She is dedicated to curating a library space that reflects the diverse identities and experiences of her students. Through thoughtfully designed lessons and a carefully chosen collection of books, she strives to empower students by ensuring they can see themselves in the literature they engage with. Her work is a reflection of her broader educational philosophy, which centers on inclusivity, empathy, and the belief that every student deserves access to knowledge and representation.


Outside of her professional life, Netera enjoys spending time with her husband, son, and two dogs in the Pacific Northwest. Her personal and professional journeys are both fueled by a passion for learning, growth, and making a positive impact in the lives of young learners. Whether she’s in the classroom, the library, or at home, she remains deeply committed to shaping a future where all children can thrive, discover, and express themselves fully.
